Good to know
Liquid culture is mycelium — the vegetative body of the fungus — growing in a nutritious liquid. It’s the fastest way to jump-start cultivation: inject it into sterilised grain jars or bags, substrate bags, an agar dish, or even a jar of sugar water to make more culture. Aggressive strains like the oysters can even colonise pasteurised substrate directly.
A spore syringe is a mix of spores, each with its own genetics, so results vary. A liquid culture is mycelium from one isolated, proven strain — so it grows faster and more predictably. Reach for spores only when you want to experiment with new genetics.
Refrigerate your syringes until use and they’ll keep 6+ months. Every culture is quality-checked before it ships; if yours arrives contaminated or refuses to grow, we’ll replace it.
